Frequently Asked Questions

Does Therapy Really Work?

Absolutely. Therapy works because it gives us a safe and compassionate space to explore the roots of our struggles. It’s not just about addressing the surface behaviors or feelings—it’s about getting to the heart of what’s happening beneath. That’s where real, lasting change begins.

Play therapy, for example, isn’t just for kids to have fun; it’s a powerful way for children to express emotions they might not have words for. It helps them process their experiences, make sense of their world, and find healthier ways to cope. The transformation we see isn’t just behavioral—it’s emotional, and it’s profound.

Sand therapy is another incredible tool. The tactile, creative process of working with sand allows people to access emotions and memories stored deep within. It’s not just about creating something in the moment; it’s about uncovering the hidden layers of our stories and bringing those to light in a safe, non-judgmental way.

Then there’s the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), which works on a physiological level to help people feel calm, connected, and safe. By addressing how the body responds to stress, SSP helps individuals regulate their emotions and connect more fully with themselves and others.

These therapies are about digging deep into the roots—where the pain, fear, or disconnection began—and creating fertile ground for growth. The roots of change start here, and from this foundation, we grow stronger, more connected, and more resilient.

How Long Will Therapy Take?

Healing isn’t a race—it’s a deeply personal journey that unfolds in its own time. Therapy doesn’t come with a set timeline because everyone’s story is unique, and so is the work they need to do. Some people may find clarity and relief in a few sessions, while others might need months or even years to dig deep, unearth the roots of their struggles, and grow in ways that truly transform their lives. The important thing to remember is that therapy is an investment in yourself, and the time it takes is as much a part of the process as the breakthroughs themselves. Growth happens in the moments we show up, do the work, and lean into the discomfort with courage and self-compassion.

Fees

Investing in therapy is an investment in yourself and your well-being. The cost of sessions depends on the type of service, the therapist you’re working with, and the length of the session. To help you make an informed decision, we offer a free consultation call. This is a chance for us to connect, explore your needs, and determine if we’re the right fit for you. Whether it leads to scheduling your first session or a thoughtful referral to another service, this process is designed to save you time, energy, and money while supporting you in finding the best path forward.

Insurance

We understand that navigating insurance can feel overwhelming, so we aim to make it as seamless as possible. After each session, we’ll provide you with a receipt. If you have Extended Health Benefits covering Registered Psychotherapy or Registered Social Work, you may be able to receive reimbursement for your sessions. If you don’t have insurance coverage, these receipts can still be used for income tax purposes. Therapy is a courageous choice, and we’re here to support you in accessing the care you need.
